Bingeable // Orange is the New Black.

Orange is the New Black’s third season came out last Thursday and I waited to share until I finished it. I must say, this show is binge worthy. This is rare and almost never happens, but every season gets better. Most shows have a lull or even start to decline after two or three seasons. But Orange is the New Black doesn’t fit that category. Every season adds more characters, more depth, more craziness, more everything.ย I absolutely loved the third season. I think I liked it the best because it focused less on Chapman and had a broader, more inclusive plot. But that’s not to say that the first two seasons weren’t great either. This whole show is so intriguing and fun. If you haven’t jumped on the bandwagon yet, sit down this weekend and give it a try.

Why I watched it. I started watching not long after season one came out a few years back. There was so much buzz about it and it seemed so different, that I figured it was worth a watch. I’m glad I did! It’s gritty, original, interesting, and funny. I personally haven’t seen a show like it. I love the fact that they share the back stories of all the characters, which helps create depth and development to the whole cast. I like that especially as the show goes on, there is less on just one main character. I like that even though the show focuses on prison life, it still is dynamic and connects to the world outside. I like that it’s dirty but hilarious, and still emotional and I can connect with it. It’s pretty much the perfect combination of all the things I love about TV shows.

Why you should watch it. Somehow, each season gets better. Each character grows and each storyline gets deeper and more interesting. You will never get bored watching this show. Because of the scenario, they are able to create wild and amazing characters. The episodes can sometimes seem over the top, but for their day to day life in prison, it seems normal! Not many shows have that advantage, and Orange is the New Black uses it perfectly. Sex, emotion, comedy, action, drama, it’s all here. There’s a little something for everyone.ย You’ll gasp, cry, laugh, boo, you’ll be hooked.

Where to watch it. Only on Netflix! And on streaming sights of course.

How long it will take. Every episode is a whole hour, bringing this series to just under forty hours total. Each episode rolls together pretty well, so it’ won’t be hard to get caught up in it for hours at a time. You’ll be binging it in no time!

    1. It’s not as dramatic as the first two, but I like the story line and character development in the third. It makes the show a little more believable and emotional. All the seasons are so different, I guess it’s just preference ๐Ÿ™‚

  1. I just started watching last week and Im still not done with Season 1 but I am hooked! Im trying to avoid spoilers like the plague!

  2. I finished the third season in two days! I loved how they developed some of the characters thy they never really focused on in the previous seasons. I do agree that it’s not as dramatic, but it’s just as good ๐Ÿ™‚

  3. So appropriate! I just started watching the first series.. I know! way behind but I have to agree it gets better each episode, although I don’t think it depicts a real prison but enjoying loads ๐Ÿ™‚

  4. I just started watching last week and am through season 1 and halfway through season 2. I hesitated watching it, but now I am glad I started! I love it for all the reason you said. It keeps getting better and better.

  5. Great show! I watched Seasons 1 and 2 over the past two weeks while on the treadmill and though I found that the constant “hook ups” took away from the story lines, I enjoyed how shift and increase of the back stories for the other characters.

  6. What I also like about it, it shows what females go through no matter their social background…. It also shows that rich or poor we are all equals and are the same.
    It’s a really great show.
    Lovely post.

  7. I like this show too, though I think that certain episodes were a bit boring and series two wasn’t as good as the first, or the third (though I watched them a long time ago, so it’s hard to say for sure).

The character development was absolutely amazing, it made the harsher characters easier to understand, that’s probably the best thing about it, to be honest, aside for the drama.
