Dry Shampoo // My new best friend.

Welcome back!

I have discovered something wonderful this weekend. The other night, I bought my first bottle of dry shampoo. And it is now my new best friend.

I’m not going to beat around the bush, my hair gets really greasy, really easily, really quickly. If I don’t shower daily, my hair revolts and get disgusting in less than twenty-four hours.

Even more unfortunately for me, I hate the greasy look. Loathe it. It’s the worst. So, every day, I wash my hair, detangle it, dry it, and hate it more each time. With all that being said, you might be surprised that I haven’t jumped on the dry shampoo bandwagon sooner. I know I am. I don’t know why I didn’t try it out for myself a long time ago.

I personally got Bed Head’s dry shampoo, but this was because it was the only one sold at Shoppers. While it was expensive, I have been excited to try and play with it. Especially with Tigi’s volume as well as dry promise, I’m looking forward to using it freely.Β After a try or two,Β I must say, I have mixed emotions though. It’s not a miracle worker, your hair doesn’t suddenly get clean and dry instantly. With that being said, I’m not sure how much to use, and how thorough I should be, I’m still getting the hang of it. But, so far so good!

I can definitely see myself after a long day of work (and running my hands through my hair all day), spraying my roots before a dinner out or errands. Or maybe some sprits before work in the morning if I showered the evening before.

I’m probably still going to be showering and washing my hair every day, but on that slow weekend, or errand day, I’ll definitely be happy to spray my hair down and run out the door feeling confident. Otherwise, it’ll be my trusty little drier for those long days and fun nights.

Have you guys tried dry shampoo before? What are you favorite tips and reviews?

Cheers,
— Brey

  1. Ooo I love it! I usually opt for Batiste because it’s purse friendly and they colour match for brunettes, reds and blacks. But I also really like Percy and Reed because they do travel sized, and the bottles are super cute!

      1. Yes! Especially for pool days in the summer, because I don’t want to wash my hair to go to the pool. But I refuse to leave the house with oily hair. It’s gross. I have fine hair so I get greasy hair very easily. Especially if I touch it a lot! Enjoy! If you want to try another brand I like Not your mothers hair, or something like that.

  2. Of course, I can’t say I know much about dry shampoo, but I’ve been told by more than one that shampooing your hair every day is actually not healthy… Have you heard this? Is it true? Good, practical article, well-written (as always), by the way! Cheers!

      1. My friend, who has the same problem of being VERY oily, actually went to a beauty store and they examined her scalp for her. Then they recommended a treatment program, for a few weeks. It was kind of expensive but she said she went from washing her hair every day to washing her hair ever 2 days in the first 2 weeks. She has a few weeks to go but she said its really working great. Just a thought πŸ™‚

  3. Love dry shampoo! Use to wash my hair every single day until my hair dresser so that was one of the main reasons my hair would get so oily. I only wash my hair twice a week now because of dry shampoo, which having long hair is awesome because there is less blow drying! πŸ™‚

  4. Dry shampoo is my savior! I have oily hair and don’t wash my hair everyday. I’ve used so many dry shampoos from Chi, Big Sexy Hair, & R&Co. But my fave is Dry Texturizing Spray by Oribe. It’s $42 but works WONDERS!!

  5. The ‘smart ones’ said that shampooing your hair more often often wash down the natural layer of oil, this makes your head’s skin produce more and more oil to replace the lost one. I have much and really long hair which doesn’t became greasy easy ( about 2 weaks), so I don’t have this problem, but I have another. It is a long time to wash it and sometimes I know it is unnecessary, because e.g. I’ll go to ride a horse tomorrow and my hair will smell like horses and I’ll sweat much under my helmet but until… I use baby powder, thats healthier and less is enough to absorb the grease. I put it on my head, after I shake out a little bit and sleep with it. Morning I brush it out, or shake it if I’m too lazy to brush my hair, and VoilΓ .

  6. My hair is the same way – I have to wash it every single day otherwise it gets really gross. I work at a bakery super early in the morning so I shower at night and will sometimes use dry shampoo when I get up in the morning to make my hair look fresher. The only kind I’ve tried is amika perk up dry shampoo. I got it from Birchbox and it’s kind of expensive but it works really well and smells amazing! https://www.birchbox.com/shop/amika-perk-up-dry-shampoo

  7. My hair is the same way, it makes me crazy! But I use Dove dry shampoo and I love it. It’s perfect for my errand days or when I wake up late and don’t have time to do my wash & blowdry routine.

  8. I started using dry shampoo when I started dying my ends blue and I fell in love with it. Really helps me get through the week without having to wash my hair too often πŸ™‚ I find it best to massage it in with my hands before combing it in.

  9. If you wouldn’t wash your hair with Ajax or Comet, then don’t wash your hair with shampoo. Shampoo has sulfates, which is detergent. Have you ever seen the ad for ‘Wen’ shampoo? Well I found a knock-off at the pharmacy and thought, “this is just conditioner’. So for the last few weeks I use nothing but conditioner on my hair and I LOVE it. Many people won’t like it because they have been destroying their hair with detergent all their lives and the stripped, dry, brittle hair-kill feel is what feels normal to them. My hair is clean and healthy and detergent free πŸ˜‰

  10. I’ve only tried two different kinds of dry shampoo, but I liked them both, and if you’re a college student who doesn’t always have time to shower every single day between class, friends, and meals, it’s a style saver. It’s all up to preference, but I like the ones I’ve used so far!
